September 7th Day 17 Going near shore.

Positive mental attitude. Had a great run since turning east, I know know it was the correct thing to do. Its not easy making those decisions but to try go on in strong head winds would have been bad, possibly making things worse! Waxwing is on a reach, beam reach or a run will sail herself more or less on a straight course once I balance the sails well, I can even can even change her course by adjusting the sheets. No strain on the steering thankfully! I also have been hand steering a lot and when needed to ( lots of shipping) So even tho I’m tired I feel way better todayy. I even told Kathy this morning I’m hungry, Kathy knows if I’m not hungry there something wrong 😂 Another important thing about finding a sheltered bay is that if I make the problem worse I can still get into a port, I don’t want to get fingers caught in a moving steering system, if I’m anchored I can lock the steering. I should be anchored tomorrow, give myself as much sleep as my body will take then fix the steering hopefully and set off to sail the world again . Lots of people txting and calling yesterday, that gave me a huge boost, people offering to fly me parts, all sorts of very generous offers from all over the world, I am so overwhelmed. I can’t see any social media sites, or google anything, no internet out here, just txt and email . Sorry I couldn’t reply to everyone but I did read them.
