September 3rd - "One week at sea"
Morning from Waxwing,
This day last week I set sail from Kilrush in Ireland to sail solo around the world (still can’t believe it) and what a week it’s been, strong winds, light winds and perfect winds.
Every moment so far has been incredible.
All the hard work paid off and all systems are working perfectly.
I have email and phone calls onboard through my Predictwind satellite system but no internet or social media etc, big thanks to Rachel and Elmo who look after my social media while I’m at sea, they tell me there are lovely comments, thank ye all, I can’t wait to read them when I get Wi-Fi in Madeira.
I had to get up during the night and put a reef in the mainsail and saw my first ship in 4 days, 5 nm behind me but nice to see her lights.
Beautiful steady west winds today, flying along south at 6,7kn with reefed mainsail, staysail and Yankee.
Contentment and gratitude is all I feel today as I write this blog sitting in the cockpit looking at the vastness of the North Atlantic Ocean.
Wishing everyone a fantastic Saturday.
Waxwing out 😊⛵️🌎
